Saturday is the 10th annual "Trout Challenge" kayak fishing tournament hosted by the Bayou Coast Kayak Fishing Club. Fishing anywhere in St. Bernard Parish (Reggio, Delacroix, Shell Beach, Hopedale). Fishing start 5:45am, weigh-in 2:00pm at Last Stop Food Mart. Heaviest total weight of 10 speckled trout. Entry fee is $30, open to the public. For more info, go to www.bckfc.org.
Also on Saturday, Masseys Outfitters of New Orleans will hold a free Kayak Demo Day in front of the new Deutsches Haus on Bayou St. John. Time is 10:00am to 3:00pm. Boat brands include Hobie, Jackson, Blue Sky and Bonafide. While at the demo, feel free to hop inside Deutsches Haus for a cold German beer, warm pretzel or other snack and relax.
