How do you rig a VOSI( http://www.laflyfish.com/flies/vosi.php ) so that when you make the sharp strips to pop the water to attract specks, the VOSI doesn't slip. I am always re-adjusting and also the sticks fall out and then I run out of sticks. This weekend I was stuffing a particular kind of marsh grass into the styrofoam VOSI. I have put it on the inside of a non-slip loop, but then it's not directly in-line and it doesn't pop and squirt water as well. Also, is anybody rigging any beads with the VOSI to get clicks out of it and if so, how? Thanks in advance, Blindhog X(..)X

Glen, dip a toothpick into goop and coat very lightly the inside of the VOSI at the narrow end, and let dry. The plug will stick much better and won't slip nearly as much. I tried this technique because I experimented with using a rattle as a plug, and found it slipped/fell out much more than plastic. Adding anything "sticky" to the end of the VOSI helped in keeping the rattle in place.
Ted Cabali of River Ridge has experimented with a flyrodder's version of the Speculizer. He gave me one to try and it's worked okay, but when I lost it, I lost the "blueprint". |

I just picked up some bobbers from BassPro. They are Comal Tackle brand. They are much more durable than the standard light foam ones. |

Thanks, guys, I came up with something and put it on my blog, I reference LA FlyFish and put a link, hope that's OK with you Catch. Anyway, see what I did and if you have any suggestions or input I would like to have'em.

Blindhog, that's an impressive rigging you've created! The loop connections will allow it to be added/removed depending on circumstances. Can't wait to try it out. |
