Topic: Recommend a Waterproof Camera, please.

Last week I dropped the second digital camera in the water in as many years. Time for a waterproof model.

You guys have any recommendations?

Thanks, Hogy

Re: Recommend a Waterproof Camera, please.

I recommend either the Pentax Optio or the Olympus Stylus. Both have similar features and both are very nice. You won't be disappointed in either.

I use the tough 8000 and it's been great so far...I think one could find them fer way less than what I bought for last year

Re: Recommend a Waterproof Camera, please.

forgot to mention to get a floating camera strap!

Re: Recommend a Waterproof Camera, please.

I have a Pentax Optio and it is a really good camera. Easy to use and has more capability than I will ever need or figure out.  My buddy has the same camera and he showed me a little tip.  He bought one of those foam floats that you keep your boat keys on and put it on the camera strap.  Works great, very light, and no more dropped camera worries.:)

Re: Recommend a Waterproof Camera, please.

If im correct (which i rarely am in this department) you can get a covering or shield sort of that can water proof a camera just to open another door for you.

IF you want a camera i sugest a Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP Digital Camera. cost about 330$ new

It has great resolution and is watere proof to 10 meters dust proof and shock proof to an extent (like 1.2 m)

Re: Recommend a Waterproof Camera, please.

Got a Pentax Optio and have had it for 4 years. Bought it after needing a water-proof camera with high capacity while looking at the Super Dome back in Aug 2005...the Katrina Party. Carry it every where. It's a early gen. but held up well. Get an extra battery or two for sure. The new gen. of Pentax Optios are shock proof to about 4 feet also.

Another vote for the Pentax Optio.  A little more zoom and a few more $$$'s.
