Topic: Kayak Repair?

Hello all,

I need a little advice.  I have a kayak which has a gash in the side, 4 inches or so long and 1/8" wide that needs to be repaired.  Has anyone done this or have any idea if there is a kayak repair type service?  I was reading online earlier about how to get a plastic welding rod and a torch to repair it.  I have no experience with this and would be worried I would make the problem worse.  I appreciate the info ahead of time.  You guys are always most helpful.

Jack, depending on how severe your gash is, this solution might work as an alternative to plastic welding:

The company that sells it, Mold In Graphics, has a video of how to apply. Spread the putty-like material to fill the gash, then apply heat with a propane torch.  It supposedly bonds to polyethylene.
