Topic: Where to go around Gonzales...

...Planning to go to a seminar on Emergency Nursing in Gonzales end of this month. Does anyone have any ideas on some place close. I will probably bring my Old Town Discovery Sport with me. Larry Offner suggested NOLA and it's population of Rios. Any news on Bayou Lacomd for this time of year?

Re: Where to go around Gonzales...

If we don't get too much rain you might try Bayou Conway. There's a small boat launch just off Sorrento Hwy that makes for an after-work trip. Popping bugs work good in early spring.

Re: Where to go around Gonzales...

The course is Thursday and Friday. Plan to stay until Sunday so that widens my radius somewhat. What type of bottom is the bayou...sandy/gravel or silt/mud?

Re: Where to go around Gonzales...

Everything around there is mud!  emot_lol  The sandy/gravel waters are all north of I-12.

If you're looking to bank fish, the little slough that runs thru the City Park holds small bass and bream.  Also, I'd check out the sections along Highway 61 south of Sorrento.

Re: Where to go around Gonzales...

I my just "head south, young man" and get my year's first taste of saltwater and fish between Fourchon and Grand Ilse. SAH-WEET! Or fish the north shore. The world is my oyster bed.

Re: Where to go around Gonzales...

Made a raid on the Cabelas here in Gonzales and naturally dissapointed from my first trip. Not near the stuff the Cabelas in Fort Worth has. Planning on fishing between G.I. and Fourchon this Sat. Anyone wanna go? The front seat of the canoe is open.
