Topic: Vise help..........

I am getting ready to get a new vise and have been doing alot of looking around.  I am torn between these vises.  Any help would be appreciated.

Griffin Blackfoot Mongoose Vise

Peak Rotary Fly-Tying Vise

Renzetti Traveler Vise

I am looking to stay arond the $150 to $180 range what is the opinion on these?

Thanks,

Re: Vise help..........

Three good options to choose from. Personally, I'd likely go with the Renzetti Traveler, just from my customer experience with Renzetti (excellent), although Griffin also has good customer service.  Also, the Griffin BMV uses the same locking system as found on their basic 2A vise, and that is surprisingly versatile (I've tied size 22 and size 2/0 on that vise!).  Whatever you go with, get the pedestal base model!

Stephen,

I have the renzetti and have been very pleased with it.  It's very sturdy and allows tying many different hook sizes.

Re: Vise help..........

Although the Nor-Vice may be out of your price range, it is an outstanding piece of equipment.  It certainly has a learning curve, but is well worth the time and effort.

Re: Vise help..........

I picked up the Renzetti Traveler Vise yesterday.  I am loving this vise.  I feel like I just jumped the great lakes compared to the starter vise I had been using since I started tying.  Don't know why I didn't make this buy sooner.  Oh well now the fun begins.
