Wow 46 views without a comment. I'm starting to think you guys don't like this fly. Criticism is helpful too. If you don't like this fly tell me why. You wont hurt my feelings. It will help me to make the next one better.I put patterns up here to share ideas for the benifit of all . So if they are not of any use let me know that too and I'll stop wasting my time.

A comment for what it is worth... The head seems to extend well below the shank of the hook, perhaps enough to reduce the hookupability a tad.
So you caught that Ron? I need a longer shank hook for this pattern. I know sometimes doing prototypes we tend to use what we have. Thanks.

The fly looks great, as do all of the flies that you've posted.
I'm not sure I would try to tie it b/c I don't think I'd be able to sculpt a mullet head from a block of foam and have it look like the head of a mullet, or any fish for that matter.

The sculpted head not unlike the coloration on stiplled poppers flies are nice and add something to the end product but are not 100% nessecary. You could do this pattern with a large popper body turned backward like a slider. The idea is to move the surface water to get the fly noticed.

Change the name to "Ye Olde Mullet Head" and I'll give it my blessing. 
A longer hook is one option to the gap issue. Another would be to (referring to the top image) trim some off the bottom of the head. On my computer there is a general bluish cast to the shading on the top and side of the head. The bottom part of the head has a darker gray tone to it. Were you to trim that darker gray part off, the gap issue would basically disappear and also the line of the body would be more in harmony with the back of the head.

although it is hard to tell from the photo the dark gray area is shadows from the gills . I must get enough clearence to ensure a hook up with the single hook this fly has . I have seen numerous redfish and specks fail to get hooked with a plug with six to nine hooks.

No never thought about wool. The need to keep the head high and move water is key to this fly's attraction to me. I am trying to come up with a pattern that can be cast along side the popular baitcasting top water lures.Wool would work well to imitate a suspended Mullet ,like the Catch 2000 does. Thanks for the imput though. When tinkering with a new idea the more imput the better.
