Topic: Loss of a best friend

Today the Cormier family mourns the loss of our own.  Last night, our beloved collie, best friend, and family member, Buddy Maxwell Cormier, passed away due to complications from a tumor. We wish to thank the folks at South Paws Hospital in Mandeville for all they did to save Buddy, and alloting us time to spend the last couple hours of his life with him.

He came to us as a young pup 11 years ago, and was constant companion to our little daughter Cokie.  They basically grew up together.  I think if there ever was a dog who could've gone to school, it was Buddy.  He was the smartest canine I've ever known, and I've been around dogs all my life. He was also an occasional fishing companion. He loved to jump inside my canoe and was always ready for a trip!  He also made most of Master Jake's cross-country meets, where all the folks would come up to him and say, "Look, it's Lassie!".  I really didn't know that kids today knew who Lassie was.  Obviously, Buddy didn't take it as an insult... if ever there was a Friend to All Mankind (other than Mother Teresa and Ghandi) then it was the Bud-man.

A few photos cannot do justice to all the great memories we've had with my best friend. They only serve to let others know what a happy fellow he was.

Re: Loss of a best friend

I only got to spend time with Buddy on a couple of occasions, but it was clear to me that he was an outstanding dog: smart, friendly, and good looking - all the things anyone could want in a canine.  CS Lewis wrote that dogs have three paws in the animal world, and one paw in the human world; they serve as our link, our ambassadors with the animal kingdom.  I always thought that was true stuff, and I know Buddy was a United Nations-grade diplomat.  Sorry for y'all's loss.
